‘Back to the Future’: ASUTIL returns to Rio for final conference

BRAZIL. South American duty free association Asociacion Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres (ASUTIL) will hold its final conference in Rio de Janeiro in June before it is combined with IAADFS (International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores) next year.

Rio was also the venue for the first ASUTIL event, giving rise to a ‘Back to the Future’ theme for 2017.

This year’s conference will take place between 6-9 June at the Hilton Barra hotel. Registration will open in February and stand registration in March.

Organisers have promised a range of new speakers this year in addition to annual features such as m1nd-set studies, a statement of ASUTIL and industry affairs, and a look at the impact of technological innovation.

Networking Time meetings will again be a key element of the show, with attendees able to meet with Latin America and Caribbean operators. It will take place on the afternoon of 7 June and the morning of 8 June. Networking Time meetings can be booked from 10 April.

Social activities include a tour of Rio on 9 June as well as luncheons, coffee breaks, an opening cocktail, and a gala dinner.

Further news about the conference agenda and other topics will be revealed during the IAADFS event in Orlando in March.

The ASUTIL and IAADFS events will be fully integrated from March 2018 to create a Summit of the Americas that will offer what the partners call “a revitalised business, educational and networking event for all attendees”.
