Azzaro introduces Ian Somerhalder as the new face of Azzaro Pour Homme

Beauty distributor Essence Corp has launched the latest Azzaro Pour Homme campaign featuring Ian Somerhalder as the new face of the fragrance in the Caribbean this month.

Azzaro Pour Homme, a fougère aromatic woody fragrance for men, was created in 1978 by Loris Azzaro. Described as a scent of masculine seduction, Azzaro Pour Homme has been primarily embodied by “men who love women who love men” since its launch, according to the brand. American actor, model and producer Ian Somerhalder was revealed as the new face of Azzaro Pour Homme in March 2014.

“With natural magnetism, charismatic looks, devastating charm and a hypnotic gaze, Ian Somerhalder naturally fits the Azzaro Pour Homme DNA,” the brand stated.

Somerhalder also founded the Ian Somerhalder Foundation in 2010 to raise awareness on the environment, animal rights and clean energy sources – causes that strike a chord with brand owner Clarins Fragrance Group, which has been pursuing a policy of responsible development since the 1980s. In keeping with this environmentally-friendly theme, the Azzaro Pour Homme fragrance is now refillable and bottle components can be taken apart and recycled separately.

For the first time, the Azzaro Pour Homme communication campaign takes the form of a video clip. The film and photos – shot by Swedish director Jonas Akerlund and French photographer David Bellemère respectively – depict a story of “modern seduction” between a man and a woman. It is set in an Italian villa on the banks of Lake Como, and stars Brazilian model Ana Beatriz Barros alongside Somerhalder. The black and white visual echoes the aesthetic feel of the previous campaign.

On top of becoming refillable, the Azzaro Pour Homme bottle has also adopted a new look. The black and amber flacon is now octagonal with an added side facet and a slender new silhouette. The “Azzaro Pour Homme” signature is now imprinted on the glass, which now takes on a warmer shade.

The fragrance contains notes of star anise, basil, lemon, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood and cistus labdanum. Lavender, neroli, geranium and oak moss form the fougère accord.

The edt is available as 30/50/100ml refillable natural sprays, a 200ml natural spray (non-refillable), a 50/100ml splash and 100ml refill. The line extension includes 100ml after shave spray lotion, 50/100ml after shave splash lotion, 75/100ml after shave balm, 150ml spray deodorant, 75ml stick deodorant, and 150ml all-over shampoo.
