Avelines marks 100-year anniversary with Geneva Airport promotion

A range of Swiss prizes await travellers at Geneva Airport as Avelines marks its 100th anniversary

SWITZERLAND. Swiss chocolatier Avelines is celebrating its 100th anniversary with an exclusive summer-long promotion at Geneva Airport in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail at Aelia Duty Free.

Maestrani Swiss Chocolate* recently acquired Avelines, a renowned Swiss chocolate praline created in 1922, from Favarger.

In departures, travellers can participate in the ‘Avelines 100 Years’ competition to win exclusive prizes. The first prize is a two-night stay at the Swiss Luxury Apartments in Geneva.

A voice of experience

Highly respected travel retail executive Faozia Math Ly Roun (pictured below and in the picture above) took on the role of Senior Key Account Manager Business Development for Maestrani Swiss Chocolate in March.

She has specific responsibility for the company’s three new acquisitions, Munz, Minor and Avelines.

She is also a specialist in the chocolate and fine foods world having held senior roles for Fauchon, Villars Maître Chocolatier and Valrhona, before more recently serving as Area Manager Travel Retail UK & Middle East for

Avelines has also partnered with other Swiss brands to offer a curated range of prizes for the competition.

These include a Baume des Dieux from Theobroma Secret Cacao, a limited-edition Swiss Army Knife from Victorinox, a ‘Totally Swiss’ ball-point pen from Caran d’Ache and L’Eau Botanique Swiss from Arbofresh.

All winners will receive a box of the Avelines Geneva Edition chocolates.

In addition, shoppers in the Aelia Duty Free arrivals shop can enjoy free Avelines samples. The brand will be launching further promotions on 1 August, which is Swiss National Day.

Founded in 1922, Avelines is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. Avelines takes its name from the Spanish word ‘avellana’, which means hazelnut. It uses all natural ingredients and produces all its pralines in Switzerland.

Avelines blends fine cocoa beans, Swiss whole milk, hazelnuts, almonds and Madagascan vanilla extract to create a rich and smooth praline.
