Areas opens two Exploring The World by Miquel Calent restaurants at Palma de Mallorca Airport

SPAIN. Travel retail and food & beverage company Areas has unveiled two new Exploring The World by Miquel Calent restaurants at Palma de Mallorca Airport. The two eateries – one landside and the other in Terminal D – have a combined surface of 433sq m and can seat 188 diners.

Exploring The World by Miquel Calent is a collaborative restaurant concept created by Areas and the San Miguel group together with the well-known Mallorcan chef Miquel Calent.

Calent’s dishes are focused on Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine, and in particular Mallorcan delicacies, bringing a Sense of Place to guests visiting the two new restaurants.

Included on the menu are hot and cold sandwiches, salads, baked goods, coca breads, stuffed ensaïmada pastries, coffees and beers.

Areas currently operates 13 spaces in Palma de Mallorca Airport, including 11 food & beverage outlets and two retail stores, in addition to a vending machine business.

The company said that further openings are planned for the same airport in the near the future, including two more Miquel Calent restaurants.

Areas is now present in 19 Spanish airports with more than 180 outlets, and added that it aims to build its presence at the country’s five largest airports by passenger volume.
