Areas opens ten new outlets at Mexico’s Guadalajara Airport

MEXICO. Areas has opened ten new outlets at Guadalajara International Airport. They include international food franchises, bakeries, a cocktail bar, and an Argentinian bistro.

The Spanish food & beverage company secured a five-year contract for the outlets in January. The new operations occupy a combined 1,300sq m of space, adding to the five restaurants and 12 stores already operated by Areas at the airport, which is Mexico’s third largest by passenger traffic.

The centrepiece of the new openings is Mercado Providencia, a market-style space that takes its name from one of the best-known restaurants in Guadalajara. It has a seating area for 190 diners.

The market includes concepts such as Ciénaga, a Mexican food outlet developed by Areas; Pizza Amore, a pizza and pasta franchise; Asian Street Food, a space created in partnership with Josefina Santa Cruz, a nationally-known specialist in Asian cuisine; The Urban Corner, specialising in grilled meat and fish: The Drinks, featuring a range of cocktails; and Punta del Cielo, a pastry shop.

The project also includes a multi-concept space, with a seating area for about 180 diners. It features the Areas own brand Deli&Cia, specialising in healthy food options, and franchises from Carl’s Jr. and Subway.
