Areas appoints Carlos Bernal as CEO of its USA team

New Areas USA CEO Carlos Bernal

USA. Areas has named Carlos Bernal as the new CEO of its USA division. The appointment became effective on 13 January.

He replaces Sergio Rodriguez, who was recently appointed as CEO of Areas Iberia. Rodriguez will work closely with Bernal during an initial transition period.

Bernal has more than 25 years of hospitality industry experience, having held senior roles at Westfield, Delaware North, Wagamama and HMSHost. He will be tasked with developing Areas’ strategic plan in the USA.

Areas particularly noted Bernal’s skills and experience in managing high-growth companies, corporate repositioning and on-the-ground operations within multiple business venues. The company also noted his experience in deal negotiations, franchising, contract/lease negotiations and RFP [Request for Proposals] submittals, as well as his expertise at building and managing successful management teams and restaurants.

During his time in the hospitality industry, Bernal has worked with many restaurant concepts for private and publicly held companies.

Areas Worldwide CEO Oscar Vela commented: “With the addition of Carlos to the USA team I am confident we are now in a very strong position to develop our ambitious growth plans.”
