Areas and Altarea Commerce combine to open vast McDonald’s at Paris-Montparnasse Station

FRANCE. Travel restaurateur and travel retailer Areas and Altarea Commerce have unveiled one of the largest McDonald’s outlets in France, at Paris-Montparnasse Station. Described by the partners as a “customised experiential space”, the 789sq m, 217-seat dining venue offers panoramic views of the French capital and the station’s departures area.

The restaurant – which offers the McDonald’s famous fast food and beverages menu – has been designed by renowned French design agency Héroïne for McDonald’s France.

The new traveller-friendly McDonald’s from Areas and Altarea Commerce becomes one of the biggest in France

A note from Areas said: “This unprecedented style of McDonald’s in Paris-Montparnasse Station is an ambitious project that is the result of teamwork. With its plethora of attention to detail and innovations, it fully meets the expectations of numerous types of customers.”

The restaurant has been designed with travellers in mind with features including train information screens and dedicated spaces for storing luggage close to tables.

For travellers in a hurry, online orders can be placed in advance and picked up at the click and collect counter on the station side of the restaurant.

For customers ordering at the last minute, 16 terminals have been made available to keep waiting time to a minimum.

Those customers seeking an eating area away from the hustle and bustle of the station have access to a quiet room to consume their purchases.

On the street side, there is also a counter for picking up orders, which will allow for extended opening hours beyond the standard opening times (7am to 11pm) for late night users. A home delivery system is also in operation.

Underlining the scale of the project some 150 workers to staff the restaurant have been recruited through partnerships with local employment agencies.

Areas also noted that the new restaurant complies with McDonald’s’ environmental initiatives, with the eco-responsible actions in place that have been developed by the American superbrand.

Self-order kiosks are available at various points in the new restaurant

Areas France CEO Yves Lacheret said: “I am extremely happy about the opening of this new McDonald’s, one of the largest in France. With its innovative modern decor, this restaurant offers customers a quality framework. We wanted to connect our project to the real world in order to offer everyone the best experience and a customised service.”

Altarea Commerce President of the Board of Directors Ludovic Castillo said: “Montparnasse Station, which today is fully integrated into the city, is a genuine living and business space that is fully open to its district, offering comfort and fluidity. This new McDonald’s completes a varied offer of restaurants and fast food businesses to satisfy travellers as well as visitors and local residents.”
