APTRA to host Airport Forum and Insights Seminar at TFWA Asia Pacific

ASIA PACIFIC. The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) is to hold a series of events during the upcoming TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore.

Prior to the start of the summit, APTRA will host its third Airport Forum on 12 May, which is exclusive to airport operators. The event is designed to be informal and interactive, and will feature presentations by Kansai Airports’ Stephane Geffroy and Changi Airport Group’s Teo Chew Hoon. It will be hosted by Changi Airport Group and sponsored by DFS.

APTRA President Andrew Ford will address the morning plenary of the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference on 13 May.

Stephen Hillam, of travel retail analyst and data provider NPD Travel Retail, will present key findings from APTRA’s Understanding Young China report. It offers a detailed analysis of the consumption preferences and shopping behaviour of Chinese travellers who are aged between 18 and 30.

The forum will be followed by a management-led tour of The Jewel Experience at Changi Airport.

APTRA President Andrew Ford will address the morning plenary of the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference on Monday 13 May. He will summarise the ways in which the association is supporting the duty free and travel retail industry in Asia Pacific, including research, training and advocacy. He will also update delegates on APTRA’s latest initiatives.

Along with KPMG, APTRA will then co-host an Insights Seminar on the morning of 15 May. It will take place in the Begonia Ballroom (room 3111) at the Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Centre.

The seminar focuses on recent research of specific relevance to the duty free and travel retail industry. NPD’s Hillam will present a summary of the Understanding Young China report, while KPMG’s Anson Bailey will assess the latest retail technology in a presentation entitled ‘Data & Innovation’. The seminar will also feature a Q&A session and time for networking.

Finally, APTRA will hold its Annual General Meeting in the afternoon of the same day, with association members invited to attend. The meeting will take place in the Begonia Ballroom, and will include the election of members of the board. APTRA members interested in applying for a seat on the board can contact APTRA’s administrative officer Sharolyn Paul at sharolyn.paul@aptra.asia before 30 April.

The incoming board will elect a new president, secretary and treasurer.
