Michael Barrett: Key new role as APTRA’s Executive Officer

He will liaise with members on a regular basis to identify issues of concern and, in association with other trade bodies such as ETRC, AFCOHT, IAADFS and TFWA, he will assist the APTRA Board to develop and implement appropriate strategies, the Asia Pacific association said.

As Executive Officer Barrett will also become the focal point for information about the duty free and travel retail industry in the region as required by industry stakeholders, the media and external bodies.

His remit is also to build a database of key contacts in governmental and non-governmental organisations in each country in the Asia Pacific region who may be involved in action that would affect APTRA stakeholders.

APTRA President Sunil Tuli said: “Michael is an energetic and resourceful young man who brings to the role of Executive Officer a high degree of professionalism, plenty of relevant experience in the work of the industry and its associations, and the flair and determination to help us move forward.

“APTRA has ambitious plans for the future of duty free and travel retail in Asia Pacific and currently we face some severe political and legislative challenges. There is a great deal of work to do and we welcome Michael to the team as we embark on the tasks ahead.”
