APTRA appoints Horizon Consumer Science as new research partner

ASIA PACIFIC. The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has appointed Horizon Consumer Science as its new research partner.

Topics of relevance to the Asia Pacific duty free and travel retail industry will be studied over “the next few years”, including regional trends analysis coupled with consumer level research.

APTRA Executive Director Christina Oliver. “Our objective is to drive a strategy that offers our members a macro, regional and consumer insight into Asia Pacific”

The first research study to be undertaken by Horizon for APTRA will be titled ‘The Emerging Asian Traveller’. It will offer insights into which nationalities, besides the Chinese, are the upcoming traveller groups out of Asia.

The study will determine which other nationalities the industry should start to understand and plan for, with figures on likely numbers and when the growth will be seen. It is due to be launched in Q4 2019 and will be available exclusively to APTRA members.

With offices in Australia, North America and the Czech Republic, Horizon has a reputation for driving analytical and scientific data-driven research that can help businesses decide on commercial priorities, APTRA said. The company has more than 20 years of experience in the travel retail field.

“We have revisited our research strategy as it is important to look at it holistically,” said APTRA Executive Director Christina Oliver. “Our objective is to drive a strategy that offers our members a macro, regional and consumer insight into Asia Pacific, with different types of reports, in order to start building a bank of relevant data and knowledge.”

APTRA President Grant Fleming: “We strongly believe that knowledge and data is a must for the industry”
