André de Almeida bids farewell to Loch Lomond and travel retail

Loch Lomond Group Managing Director – Global Travel Retail André de Almeida is leaving the company on 16 April to take up a new role with another drinks business. Details of that appointment and his replacement will be released in coming weeks, he told The Moodie Davitt Report.

From the time he joined the independent distiller in August 2016, de Almeida played a key role in bringing the independent distiller’s brands, such as Glen Scotia and Loch Lomond, into the travel channel for the first time.

In a post on his well-regarded Blog Inside the Cask, he said: “I look forward to my new challenge but will be leaving Loch Lomond Group with a heavy heart as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the company working with some wonderful people. The last few years have been an absolute privilege bringing Scotch whisky brands such as Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia into the Global Travel Retail channel.”

Comment: The travel retail sector will bid a fond farewell to André de Almeida who has contributed much in terms of energy, innovation and professionalism as well as a notable concern for others, something reflected in his excellent Blog. Indeed, one of his main purposes in creating Inside the Cask was to help others to get in or back into the drinks industry and retail in general, a mission he has stepped up admirably during the pandemic. We, along with many others, wish André well.

André de Almeida and Loch Lomond Group were a pioneering supporter of the Virtual Travel Retail Expo last October
