“An experience worth travelling for”: Qatar Airways launches first dedicated brand store with Qatar Duty Free

QATAR. Qatar Airways and Qatar Duty Free have unveiled the airline’s first dedicated brand store, located at Hamad International Airport.

The Qatar Airways Travel Boutique offers an exclusive range of branded travel essentials including a high-end luggage collection, a children’s range of travel games, and accessories.

The store is designed to enable customers to feel as though they have stepped on board a Qatar Airways aircraft. It features burgundy lighting, curved walls, a business class desk and an A380 first class seat.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker (centre) launched the airline’s first boutique at Hamad International alongside a host of VIPs.

The boutique was opened today (9 January) at an event officiated by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker. VIPs in attendance included the Qatari Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani; the German Ambassador to Qatar, His Excellency Hans-Udo Muzel; Hamad International Airport Chief Operating Officer Eng. Badr Al Meer; and Qatar Duty Free Vice President Operations Thabet Musleh.

Three professional football players from Germany’s Bayern Munich, of whom Qatar Airways is a platinum partner, were also in attendance. They were Kingsley Coman, Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle.

Other VIP guests included representatives from the local football club Qatar Airways sponsors, Al Sadd Sports Club: General Manager Turki Al-Ali and player Gabriel Arenas.

The boutique offers a range of travel essentials and simulates the feeling of stepping on board a Qatar Airways aircraft.

“Qatar Airways is delighted to launch our first-ever boutique to engage shoppers in a unique way by enabling them to enjoy the Qatar Airways experience on the ground,” said Al Baker.

“We are excited to launch this new retail concept at our magnificent home and hub, Hamad International Airport, a further testament to our vision of redefining the perfect travel experience for our travellers.”

Musleh commented: “We are proud to launch such a unique concept to our customers, enabling them to experience the luxury of Qatar Airways.

“This boutique takes shopping to the next level, where customers can experience an A380 first class seat, grab the latest football strip from one of the world’s top global teams, or play their own penalty shoot-out. This truly is the embodiment of an experience worth travelling for.”

NOTE: Qatar Duty Free, Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport will host The Trinity Forum in 2019. The world’s most influential airport commercial revenues conference, a partnership between The Moodie Davitt Report, ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific, takes place in Doha on 30-31 October.
