“Always among the pioneers”: Umdasch Shopfitting Group turns 150 years old

AUSTRIA. Umdasch Shopfitting Group is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

The Austria-based company was founded on 19 February 1868. On that date, Stefan Hopferwieser, the great-grandfather of today’s owners Hilde and Alfred Umdasch, was granted the concession for his joinery business. The foundation for today’s Umdasch Group with its two core areas of formwork and shopfitting was laid.

Silvio Kirchmair: “We always work hard to be among the pioneers in our business segments”

Umdasch Shopfitting Group CEO Silvio Kirchmair commented: “A look at 150 years of history makes us proud and humble. We are proud of longstanding customers, partners and companions. We feel humble that with our attitude and our values, but also with the pioneering spirit that has prevailed in our company for 150 years, we have grown into an international company.

“We have been able to establish a very solid foundation in recent decades. But we do not want to stop at that point and we always work hard to be among the pioneers in our business segments.”

Umdasch noted its recent involvement in Bvlgari and Dubai Duty Free’s opening of a Peter Marino-concept boutique at Dubai International Airport Concourse B.

The company took full ownership of Croatian shopfitting company ATT Furnishing at the end of 2017. The acquisition was intended to strengthen Umdasch’s competence in the fitting out of international retail brands in the luxury segment.

Kirchmair described ATT Furnishing as “an ideal match for the growth strategy of Umdasch Shopfitting in the premium and travel retail sector”.
