Dubai-based producer Al Nassma Chocolate is aiming to expand its distribution globally as the first company in the world to produce premium camel’s milk chocolate.

Trading with the marketing tagline “First and Finest Camel Milk Chocolate”, Al Nassma has its roots in the Arabic language and its logo depicts a seasonal breeze which brings respite to the people of the desert.

Speaking at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes where the company presented its POS units, General Manager Martin van Almswick told The Moodie Report: “Al Nassma is a truly Arabian product, with Arabic ingredients produced for the Arabic palate. The chocolate is produced in Dubai at the Camelicious camel farm in Umm Nahad. The farm has more than 3,000 camels who are the sole supplier of milk for Al Nassma.

“There has been huge interest from the Arab world and, of course, from visitors to Dubai keen to try something truly unique. The chocolate is now available in many renowned places, including the Burj al Arab, the Bab al Shams Hotel, the Emirates Towers Hotel, the Atlantis Hotel, the Kempinski, the Grand Hyatt and a very important partner is Dubai Duty Free.

“We sell very successfully through our partners in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc, and will soon be available in many other countries. We are experiencing a strong interest from across the globe, in particular Europe, the US and Japan. We ship chocolates to individual clients virtually all over the world already.”

Al Nassma’s product range

Al Nassma’s product line consists of five different flavoured 70g bars: Arabia, delicately flavoured with local spices; Dates; Macadamia Nut Orange; 70% Cocoa; and Whole Milk. Only real Bourbon vanilla is used, and all products are halal and free of artificial flavours and preservatives.

The pralines range is filled with pistachio, nougat and coffee cream. A wooden gift box called Caravan is filled with a camel-shaped praline with a macadamia-nut honey cream filling.

The flagship product are gold-wrapped chocolate camels which were created to embody the source of Al Nassma, the camel and its milk. The hollow chocolate camels are available in two sizes, 130g and 730g.

The chocolate taste is described by the firm as “not so sweet, milky, smooth, a little caramel and honey and that minerally touch of the camel milk”.

Al Nassma is equally popular among locals as well as with tourists who purchase the brand as a souvenir and gift from the region, according to van Almsick.

“When we do sampling, for example in our shop in the Mall of the Emirates or at Dubai Duty Free or Abu Dhabi Duty Free, we get a lot of ‘wows'”, he said, noting that the company can create customised products for retailers. “We always develop new ideas and solutions but are also well prepared to listen to the sometimes brilliant ideas of our customers to create together with them a unique present for somebody unique.”
