Airports of Thailand extends relief period for business partners

THAILAND. Airports of Thailand (AOT) has extended the period of relief for concessionaires and airlines amid the continuing COVID-19 crisis. The extension, which includes an exemption from office and state property rents, terminal and building service charges and fixed monthly concession charges, covers AOT locations Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai.

For those business partners and airlines that are forced to suspend their operations or in the case that airports are temporarily closed, the extension will run to 31 March 2022, instead of 31 December 2020, or until operations resume, whichever date comes first.

The extended measures cover all six major Thai airports, including Bangkok Suvarnabhumi

For companies still operating, AOT will:

*Offer a -50% reduction in office and state property rents for all tenants until 31 March 2022 (instead of 31 December 2020)

*Collect terminal and building service charges based on the -50% reduction in rents as above

*Exempt airlines that suspend flights from parking charges or, if they continue to operate, only charge -50% rates

The airports company was the first to offer a relief package to commercial partners in February this year. As reported, it has also extended by one year the commercial contracts agreed last year with King Power International Group and its subsidiaries until 31 March 2032, and updated the formula by which rental payments are made.
