TURKEY/INTERNATIONAL. Preparations for this year’s Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards in Istanbul are advancing well, with details of the conference programme and official hotel venue to be announced soon.
As reported, this year’s event (23-24 June) will be co-hosted by Istanbul Airport and Tum & Ictur, the concessionaire managing 34,000sq m of food & beverage space at the Istanbul gateway.
Event organiser The Moodie Davitt Report has also released the first of a new series of videos in which some of the food & beverage industry’s key figures give their thoughts on the value and importance of FAB and what to expect from the event. Part one, filmed at last year’s hugely successful event in Dallas, Texas, can be viewed at the top of this page.
“FAB brings together leaders of the industry and I’m interested in learning at FAB about the experiences of other airports in other regions of the world and find those common issues that we all care about,” says Dubai Airports Executive Vice President Commercial Eugene Barry in the video.
“What I find at FAB is a huge amount of passion for the industry which I don’t think you find in other channels within the airport. There’s a great sense of energy and optimism about food at airports and it’s definitely going through a growing phase at the moment,” Barry adds.
Changi Airport Group Vice President Landside Concessions James Fong notes that as passengers’ expectations grow, FAB provides an opportunity for industry players to get together to “step up our game”.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Vice President of Concessions Zenola Campbell adds that topics discussed at FAB “address some of the critical things that are going on within the industry – topics that you don’t hear about in other conferences”.

Birmingham Airport Commercial Director Richard Gill notes the opportunity to “learn and share ideas with airports across the world”; ideas which delegates can “take forward into your own business”.
ABOUT FAB 2020
FAB, conceived, owned and organised by The Moodie Davitt Report, is the only event dedicated to the burgeoning airport food & beverage business. Since its launch in 2011, FAB has flourished and become the key global gathering for a constantly evolving sector, serving as a litmus test of its challenges, opportunities and quality aspirations.
FAB 2020 will be hosted by Istanbul Airport with strong support from Tum & Ictur, the concessionaire managing 34,000sq m of food & beverage space at the Istanbul gateway, on 23-24 June 2020. The event will be a showcase for the magnificent new hub, which opened in April 2019. It will bring together senior executives from airports and food & beverage concessionaires worldwide as well as varied industry partners, including design agencies, research companies and technology providers.
The official FAB 2020 website – Airportfab.events – is now live. Hotel bookings (once the official hotel is confirmed soon), the conference registration process, and award categories and nominations are detailed on the website.
The conference programme will showcase the latest F&B developments, innovations and trends at major airports, featuring presentations by some of the world’s leading airport commercial directors, concessionaires, chefs, key industry opinion leaders and analysts.
