Airmall’s Airport Sherpa app shows the way at Baltimore/Washington International

USA. Airmall has partnered with Airport Sherpa to offer mobile ordering and gate delivery services at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Airport Sherpa takes its name from the Himalayan people who live on the border of Nepal and Tibet and are renowned for their mountaineering and guiding skills.

The Airport Sherpa app, available free of charge in the Apple App store, allows travellers to order food and retail items from anywhere inside the airport and have orders delivered to their departure gate.

Airport Sherpa offers mobile ordering and gate delivery services at Airmall locations as the airport company seeks to step up its engagement with travellers and Millennials in particular

Airport Sherpa Co-Founder Patrick DellaValle said: “We created Airport Sherpa to enhance the travel experience for passengers by providing them with an on-demand delivery service; something users have grown accustomed to for services outside of the airport.

“This app will give travellers access to hundreds of stores across terminals right at their fingertips.”

Airport Sherpa is personalised based on the user’s itinerary. The app knows when a flight is delayed, a gate location changed or a connection altered, and automatically makes adjustments to ensure on-time delivery. The app also provides recommendations based on user preferences and favourite past orders, allowing passengers to discover new food and retail options across airports.

Airport Sherpa lets users place an order up to a week in advance for delivery or pick-up on the day of departure, and provides gate-to-store directions with calculated walking distances.

Airmall Maryland Vice President Brett Kelly commented: “By partnering with Airport Sherpa, we’re able to facilitate access to a wide range of food and retail choices while providing retailers with a way to engage passengers throughout the airport.

“Travellers now have access to Airmall stores across the airport, which gives them the opportunity to fulfill any dining or retail desire, and our tenants benefit from the larger client base brought to them through the app.”

Following its launch at Baltimore/Washington International, Airport Sherpa will roll-out to other leading airports nationwide, Airmall stated.
