USA. Airmall Maryland has opened a British-style pub on the BC Concourse connector at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall).

The Firkin & Flyer – a 3,712sq ft pub and 1,075sq ft lounge area – offers a “modern take on traditional British pub fare”.

Its menu includes traditional English favourites fish ‘n’ chips, cottage pie and bangers, beans and mash and other appetisers such as burgers, sandwiches, salads, salmon and sirloin steak.

Its bottled and draught beers on tap include ales, lagers, porters and strong IPAs. The Firkin & Flyer design features include a bi-plane on a steel pedestal in the centre of the concourse, bowler hats and plane headlamps for light fixtures, and décor reminiscent of the London Underground.

Airmall Maryland Vice President Brett Kelly said: “The addition of Firkin & Flyer once again demonstrates our commitment to providing travellers with unique dining options at the airport. Firkin & Flyer brings British flavour across the pond to “˜Charm City’ and we’re excited to offer a new option for those looking to relax with some great food and drinks in a unique, inviting atmosphere.”

BWI Marshall Chief Executive Officer Ricky Smith added: “We remain committed to excellent service for our travellers, including an exciting, high-quality food and retail programme. We know The Firkin & Flyer, with its authentic English pub atmosphere, will be a popular destination for our passengers.”

The restaurant is operated by The Firkin Group of Pubs, based in Ontario, Canada with 13 pub locations across the USA.
