Airmall upgrades Terminal E food court of Boston Logan International Airport

USA. Airmall USA has completed renovations to the Terminal E food court of Boston Logan International Airport, including numerous cosmetic updates as well as the installation of a new “˜Living Wall’.

These improvements to the concessions programme follow a US$3.7 million investment in the construction of new retail units in Terminal B this spring. The new units, which include seven new shops and eateries, added 5,000sq ft feet of concessions space to the terminal.

“Part of Airmall’s commitment to the airports that we serve is our ongoing investment in the concessions programme. This investment not only includes bringing new and exciting local and national brands to the airport, but also refreshing and refurbishing existing units to keep them renewed and updated,” said Airmall Boston Vice President Michael Caro.

“We’ve seen our investment come to fruition with the exciting openings of several new units earlier this year. Now, we’re pleased to announce these recent renovations to the Terminal E food court and think that travellers will enjoy relaxing in this inviting space with a meal or snack before their flight,” he added.

Renovations to the food court include the installation of new chairs, new table tops, a new wall panelling system, and new paint. Airmall also added four five-foot high “˜Living Walls’ that hold potted plants to “symbolise life inside of the airport”. Installed by Boston-based company Cityscapes, the Living Walls are said to help provide natural air filtration, help remove VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and other harmful toxins from the air, and provide sound insulation and acoustical separation. Additionally, the walls are designed to help reduce travellers’ stress and create a pleasing and productive ambience.

Since 2000, Airmall Boston has led the development of the retail concessions programme for Boston Logan International Airport terminals B and E. A focus on brands, local owners, and competition are said to have led to a doubling of sales and space over that period.

In May 2014, Airmall announced the opening of several new concessions units in the airport’s new terminal B connector. Units included regional specialties such as Stephanie’s, Berkshire Farms Market and Legal Sea Foods, along with well-known national brands such as Peet’s Coffee & Tea and Be Relax spa. The addition of these new shops and eateries helped bring 138 more jobs to the airport, according to the company.
