AirAsia extends digital footprint with Philippines travel retail launch

ASIA PACIFIC. Leading regional carrier AirAsia has expanded its digital footprint by launching AirAsia Shop in the Philippines, in partnership with logistics venture Teleport.

The online shop (through airasia.com) allows Philippine customers to purchase a wide range of products from categories such as beauty, fashion, electronics, health & wellness, kids’ products and exclusive AirAsia merchandise that can be delivered to their doors.

The move signifies the importance of the Philippine market to AirAsia, says the airline and fast-growing ecommerce player

Karen Chan, CEO of airasia.com said, “Since the launch of airasia.com as the ASEAN super app last October, we have meticulously planned the expansion and availability of our product offerings to other markets. [This] is a momentous occasion as it marks the launch of AirAsia Shop in the Philippines, making it the second destination at which we have expanded our ecommerce presence in, and signifying the importance of the Philippine market to AirAsia.

“Through further partnerships and collaborations, we look forward to offering convenient and value-for-money travel retail shopping in the Philippines and consequently increasing our presence across ASEAN in the near future.”

Home delivery is a core element of the ecommerce play by airasia.com

Ricky Isla, CEO of AirAsia Philippines said, “We are pleased to launch AirAsia Shop here in the Philippines, thus enhancing our digital platform to bring a unique offering to the Philippine market. With the immense growth of our country’s digital economy in just the previous year, we see this as a great opportunity to join the ecommerce industry, redefining travel retail, and at home shopping experiences.

“As industries shift and continue to be shaped by our current situation, AirAsia will continue to innovate amazing product offerings and experiences for our guests and customers, which is why AirAsia is the leading travel, lifestyle and digital platform in the region.”

Speaking for local travel retail partner Regent Asia Group, Chairman and Managing Director Jose Maria “Chim” Esteban said, “Regent Travel Retail Group has been supporting AirAsia’s ecommerce innovations since 2019 and we are excited to be part of the launch of AirAsia Shop in the Philippines. The deep connection that AirAsia has with its customer base and our ability to provide top quality merchandise at value prices will allow us to reshape the travel retail experience for the Filipino traveller.”

To mark the launch, until 31 January 2021, AirAsia Shop is offering a -50% discount on selected items and free door-to-door delivery (with no minimum purchase) for all purchases, through Teleport.
