AirAsia enhances travelmall online shopping experience

MALAYSIA. AirAsia has enhanced its online travelmall duty free shopping experience, with the addition of new pre-book international and local features.

With its international flights gradually returning to pre-pandemic levels, the airline said it aims to offer passengers greater flexibility and convenience.

Travelmall by AirAsia Super App users travelling on international flights can now pre-book duty free products from categories including skincare, fragrances, gadgets and drinks. Purchases can be delivered inflight and an airport pick-up option will be added shortly.

Travellers heading to Langkawi have the option of having their purchases delivered to their hotel or picking them up in the store on the island. As reported, the launch of AirAsia’s travelmall last year offered this convenience to holidaymakers in Langkawi.

AirAsia has forged new brand partnerships and collaborated with leading international and local travel retailers – including Heinemann Duty Free, Chocolate Box, Jet.Set.Go, FlamenCo, Delicacies of Malaysia, Sprint-Cass and J&S Duty Free – to offer a broader travelmall product range.

App and online users with international flight bookings can enjoy discounts of up to -60% on selected duty free items, as well as RM80 (US$19) off their shopping cart, with the TMDUTY80 promo code until 30 June.

Head of AirAsia travelmall Rose Lam said: “As we are looking at the steady resumption of international flights across the AirAsia network back to pre-pandemic capacity, there is also an increasing demand in duty free shopping amongst those travelling internationally.

“Our new feature allows guests to pre-plan their duty free shopping by purchasing at least 48 hours before they fly on any international flights from Malaysia. This allows them to save time without rushing for shopping before their flights, and even baggage space as their duty free purchase can be delivered right to their seat inflight instead.

“AirAsia travelmall would also like to express our warm welcome to our new partners as we embark on this exciting digital transformation journey with them. As the pandemic has proven the importance of digital marketing across the travel and tourism industry, we appreciate their trust to make the AirAsia travelmall their platform of choice to market and sell their duty free products online.

“We also hope to attract more brands across the region as we soar higher and revolutionise the online duty-free shopping experience,” Lam added.

Heinemann Duty Free Malaysia General Manager Alexander Maas commented: “We are thrilled that international travel has returned to Malaysia after a difficult two years for everyone. We are delighted that we can welcome back passengers with this collaboration with AirAsia, which represents our drive to constantly improve our customers’ shopping journey.

“In addition to a more convenient and seamless shopping experience, we will also be offering customers new brands such as La Prairie, La Mer, Tom Ford and new product categories such as health and wellness and Malaysian delicacies. These new categories and brands will strengthen our core assortment of top-tier international brands across fragrances, skincare, confectionery, fashion, and accessories.

“Our enhanced product portfolio aims to cater to passengers’ every shopping need, whether purchasing a treat for themselves or shopping for friends and family,” Maas added.
