Air Tanzania launches tender for its inflight duty free service

TANZANIA. Air Tanzania has launched a request for proposals (RFP) process for its inflight duty free service.

The contract will be for two years with a provision for extension if both parties agree.

Candidates must have operated in the duty free and travel retail market for more than ten years, the airline said. They should currently be managing the inflight duty free service for at least five airlines including at least two flag carriers, catering to at least one million passengers annually.

Expansion plans: The 787 is the first widebody aircraft to join Air Tanzania’s fleet.

The successful bidder will also be currently managing the inflight duty free service for at least two airlines in the region and have no less than two members in their management team with over ten years of experience in the industry.

The RFP also outlines requirements for onboard promotions, crew training and incentive programmes.

Submissions must be made in writing, and the airline said RFP documents would be evaluated based on the higher commission rate offer along with cabin crew commission on behalf of onboard sales.

Air Tanzania took delivery of its first Boeing Dreamliner in early July, and has outlined plans to begin flights to Europe by 2022.
