Aberdeen Airport set to reopen World Duty Free and other stores

UK. Aberdeen International Airport is preparing to reopen some key retail stores following lengthy closures, including the main World Duty Free outlet, on Monday 26 April. The Dufry-owned store recently doubled in size as part of the terminal’s £20 million terminal transformation project.

Aberdeen Airport said: “The store has had a makeover since it was last open to passengers on Christmas Eve 2020, and in line with Brexit legislation, passengers leaving the UK can now benefit from duty free offers on a variety of products in store, with up to -50% off high street prices across many liquor brands as well as a variety of 3 for 2 deals available.”

Popular bar and restaurant The Distilling House is among the welcome reopenings at Aberdeen Airport set for coming days

The Distilling House at the airport will also open from Wednesday 28 April providing hot food and refreshments. As per national hospitality restrictions, alcohol will not be permitted to be served until 17 May.

On 6 May, the WHSmith arrivals store landside will also reopen. It is the first landside retail store to reopen at the airport in more than a year.

Aberdeen International Airport Operations Director Mark Beveridge said: “As we ease out of lockdown we have increased our focus on maintaining public safety and that of our staff through the introduction of a series of enhanced safety measures.

“Bringing back business safely remains a key priority and we are looking forward to our business partners reopening at our terminal. While it is critical that we re-emerge with strong connectivity it is also key that the passengers using our airport have access to as many of the facilities possible within the terminal and feel safe to do so.”

Commercial Manager Jemma Cumming said: “We have been working hard with our retail partners to reopen outlets at our terminal.

“This will offer passengers more choice while keeping them safe throughout our airport. As we welcome back more of our partners we would like to recognise our teams in WH Smith and Boots who have remained open to serve those essential travellers passing through the airport throughout this latest lockdown.

“We look forward to welcoming back our retails partners who have been working non-stop over the past couple of weeks to get ready and look forward to more re-openings in the coming weeks ahead.”
