“A world-class experience”: Abu Dhabi International introduces initiatives to enrich the traveller experience

UAE. Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) has introduced a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the traveller experience this summer.

Abu Dhabi Duty Free is collaborating with major brands on promotions which include discounts on electronics and free vouchers from jewellery stores. The airport’s F&B outlets are highlighting summer treats and football enthusiasts can watch their favourite teams in dedicated Fan Zones. Interactive football and official merchandise are also available.

Enriching the tourist experience: Abu Dhabi Airports adds a personal touch.

Other services include transit visas on arrival, flight updates via social media, innovative passenger processing systems and an upgraded WiFi service.

“Abu Dhabi Airports prioritises passenger safety above all else,” said Abu Dhabi Airports Acting Chief Executive Officer Abdul Majeed Al Khoori.

“We have worked hard to add the element of utmost convenience to this, to ensure that all passengers passing through Abu Dhabi International Airport have a truly world-class experience. We are indebted to the support of all our stakeholders and partners in making this possible and for contributing to our collective success,” he added.

In collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways and the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs – Abu Dhabi, a new transit visa counter has been set up inside the airport to grant both transit and arriving passengers visas to Abu Dhabi within 30 minutes.

Abu Dhabi Airports is doing all it can to ensure the smooth processing of its passengers.

The Terminal 3 service offers a four-day or 96-hour transit visa for all nationalities. Abu Dhabi Airports said this is in support of the city’s efforts to attract more visitors to the capital.

Through the new automated flight information BizTweet service, incoming and outgoing passengers can receive real-time flight updates to their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Abu Dhabi Airports said the Smart Travel system, which was introduced in 2016, has revolutionised passenger processing times. The system, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police, offers passengers a five-step check-in through immigration and security. The Smart Travel system has decreased airport processing time by up to -70%, Abu Dhabi Airports added.

Passengers can also use baggage drop facilities at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and City Check-in in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain International Airport, 24 hours before departure.

Abu Dhabi Airports said it prioritises passenger safety “above all else”.

The departures level baggage wrapping facility has added a luggage storage service for passengers wanting to leave the airport to explore the city.

The airport’s VIP terminal, which recently achieved an ISO 90001 certification for quality management, is offering government department staff discounted rates for membership to the Diamond Lounge. Benefits include the use of a new fleet of BMW cars.
