“A roaring success” — Foreo makes a splash at Hainan Expo

The Foreo travel retail team took the Hainan Expo by storm

CHINA. Swedish beauty tech giant Foreo celebrated a successful showing at the inaugural China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo).

The hugely successful consumer event welcomed 1,505 companies and 2,628 exhibitors from 70 different countries. The Expo attracted over 240,000 visitors and was covered by 160 different media outlets.

In addition, the Hainan Expo livestream platform garnered 16 million views, which raised the four-day event’s total sales to RMB68 million (US$10.6 million).

Foreo was the official Beauty Devices Provider for the event. The company showcased a special-edition Luna Series, featuring the event’s mascot Yuan Xiao, against a backdrop of the Hainan’s signature tropical elements.

To better reflect the symbolic significance of the Expo, Foreo chose to incorporate the special edition into a tropical jungle setting, decorated with tropical fruits available in Hainan, alongside gibbons playing in their natural habitat.

As reported, Yuan Xiao was created based on the Hainan gibbon – the world’s rarest primate – which is unique to the island. The gibbon also embodies the organiser’s sustainable development concept and green exhibition philosophy.

Dubbed ‘Lantern Festival’, the name highlights the Hainan Expo’s festive atmosphere and the grand reunion of boutiques and brands from all over the world at such a well-attended showpiece event.

The Luna series is available in vibrant sunflower yellow, designed to complement the image of Yuan Xiao.

The Luna series special edition was available as a gift for guests and served as an exclusive incentive on Hainan Expo Ambassador Viya’s Livestream platform.

Chinese influencer Viya has been described by Foreo as an “uber influencer,” and has over 77 million followers on Taobao.

Her Hainan Expo broadcast attracted 17.7 million viewers.

Foreo Global Travel Retail Director Gary Leong attended the official opening ceremony on 6 May, which was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Hainan Provincial Government.

Foreo presented the special edition Luna series as a welcome gift during the ceremony, which hosted 1,000 VIP guests from all over the world.

Foreo’s travel retail team were out in full force at the GDF Plaza stand, which was jointly organised by licence holder Hainan Development Holdings (HDH) and its support partner Dufry.

The beauty tech company showcased its Foreo and FAQ Swiss lines, which will be available at the next-stage expansion of the GDF Plaza Mall, set to open this August.

Commenting on the brand’s presence at the GDF Plaza stand, Leong said, “We could not have hoped for a better outcome with our participation in the Hainan Expo. Coupled with a strong partnership with GDF Plaza, we are proud to say that the entire event was a roaring success.

“Foreo looks forward to the opening of the new GDF Plaza Mall, and we’re excited to create even better and more dynamic results with the retailer in the future. It’s the beginning of a new chapter for us, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
