The liquids have been crafted using only locally-sourced ingredients. Malted barley is selected from within a 15-mile radius, and natural spring water is taken from Josie’s Well positioned on the hill behind the Speyside distillery.

The maturation is overseen by the expert team at The Glenlivet. Every year, only a handful of barrels are selected from the entire Glenlivet inventory to be a part of the Single Cask Edition range. Each of the bottlings are then made at cask strength and without chill filtration.

All of the barrels selected for the Single Cask collection are unique and in some cases as few as 200 bottles have been yielded from the cask. To enhance collectability, each of the bottles has been individually numbered.

The Glenlivet Master Distiller Alan Winchester said: “Demand for rare, prestigious and collectable single malts is increasing every year. That’s why The Glenlivet Single Cask Edition was created to offer consumers a rare and distinctive tasting experience. We’re committed to bringing these rare and precious whiskies to market, providing a single malt unlike any other which will never be available again.

“The Single Cask whiskies are crafted by our team of expert whisky makers who create the liquid with fine detail and precision using expertise that has been passed from generation to generation. It is their nose for fine whisky and the perfect selection of the casks that allows The Glenlivet to bring this outstanding collection of Scotch single malts to market.”
