A new Asterix adventure: Leonidas teams up with comic characters for Cannes

Belgian chocolatier Leonidas will introduce travel retail-exclusive gift packs featuring popular Asterix comic characters at the upcoming TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes (Blue Village D24).

The Leonidas Asterix Collection will be available exclusively to travellers from Q1 2018. Its launch coincides with the 37th Adventure of Asterix which is due to be released on 19 October.

The Adventures of Asterix first appeared in the Franco-Belgian comic magazine Pilote in 1959 under the title Asterix le Gaulois, written and illustrated by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.

On the move: the Asterix characters embark on a new journey in travel retail

The latest edition of Asterix has two million copies for the first print run in France and three million across Europe in 16 different languages. It is described as the biggest comic book launch of the year and will be supported by an extensive media campaign.

Leonida’s Asterix Money Box contains gold-foil wrapped chocolate coins, each one embossed with the head of an Asterix character. The blue tin has a nautical theme.

The Asterix Book Gift Box contains 48 Leonidas Napolitains in milk and dark chocolate. Each piece is embossed with an Asterix character and wrapped in Asterix paper. The box is designed to resemble a comic strip and includes a jigsaw.
