2020 vision: Hudson Group wins ten-year retail and F&B concession at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

USA. Hudson Group, in partnership with Cambios y Servicios and The Levitt Group, has been awarded a ten-year contract for six travel essentials and convenience, food & beverage, and specialty retail outlets at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

The concepts will cover over 10,600sq ft. The offer will expand the Dufry subsidiary’s footprint to 11 stores across 15,685sq ft in the Southwest travel hub.

The contract is part of PHX’s sweeping Terminal 3 modernisation programme, which is expected to be completed in 2020.

Hudson Group’s winning bids include an eclectic mix of leading national and local brands. These include Passage by Hudson; Ironwood by Hudson (together with Giant Coffee); and Discover Arizona. Hudson Group will also own and operate Tech on the Go, while subleasing the retail space for Johnson & Murphy and Indigenous & Mosaic.

The ambitiously modernised Terminal 3 will radically enhance the consumer offer at the Arizona gateway

“Our goal at PHX… is to provide our customers with a variety of duty paid and duty free retail offerings, all the while reflecting the rich community and culture that the city has to offer,” said Hudson Group President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph DiDomizio. “As a longstanding partner since 2006, we are honoured to deliver our Traveler’s Best Friend service in Terminal 3, and we are eager to enrich the retail programme with our new concepts.”

SNAPSHOT: HUDSON GROUP’S NEW RETAIL CONCEPTS

 Travel Essentials

  • Passage by Hudson: A travel essentials and convenience store inspired by the unique form of Hole-in-the-Rock, a natural stone formation in Papago Park. Like Hudson Group’s flagship Hudson brand, Passage by Hudson centres on customer convenience. It features a variety of travel essentials ranging from books, magazines and snacks & beverages to an expanded destinations merchandise offer.
  • Ironwood by Hudson and Giant Coffee: Taking a cue from the ‘path through the desert’ theme of the South Concourse, Ironwood by Hudson is described as a strikingly visual travel essentials and convenience store that offers passengers a compelling Sense of Place. The consumer proposition includes a wide variety of healthy grab and go choices, electronics, travel accessories and local and regional gifts. The offer is further complemented by the inclusion of Phoenix-based Giant Coffee – a traditional coffee shop serving organic, locally roasted coffee, plus teas and scratch pastries.

Specialty Retail

  • Discover Arizona/Tech on the Go: “The unique combination of a hi-tech electronics shop with an upscale, regionally focused gift store offers PHX Terminal 3 passengers an unprecedented travel retail experience,” says Hudson. The assortment includes several local and regional brands that are exclusive to Hudson Group, plus a House of Marley shop-in-shop offering a signature sound experience.
  • Tech on the Go/Sony: This combined retail proposition is designed to meet the demands of the most techy-savvy travellers.
  • Johnson & Murphy: Described as “a pillar of classic workmanship and a beacon of American style”, Johnson & Murphy offers a wide assortment of shoes, apparel and accessories for men and women.
  • Indigenous & Mosaic: A combination store that offers customers a mix of both Native American and contemporary jewellery, art, ceramics, glasswork, collectibles and souvenirs. This concept and range reflect the personality and culture of Phoenix and the state of Arizona.
