Toni & Guy brings volume and scent to London Fashion Week

Haircare brand Toni & Guy showcased its latest products and style credentials at London Fashion Week AW2016 (19-23 February). The Moodie Report was backstage and frontstage to find out about the hottest hair and fashion looks for the Autumn/Winter season.

As with previous years, Toni & Guy chose to work with four designers to create hairstyles for their shows at London Fashion Week. This year, the brand collaborated with big name brands Vivienne Westwood Red Label and Roksanda, rising star Ashley Williams and new partner Sibling Love. All four designers, said Toni & Guy, epitomise the personality of the brand.

The Moodie Report discovered the latest trends and products at Toni & Guy’s Style Hub AW16At a Style Hub event in Soho, Global Ambassador for Toni & Guy Hair Products Mark Hampton revealed to guests the company’s newest products based on the brand philosophy that hair is people’s unique identifier. According to Toni & Guy, a large proportion of its customers are Millennials so it sees its role as providing inspiration to consumers to style their hair and create different looks.

A dual-function product, Illuminating Hair Perfume is Unilever’s first-ever hair fragrance. Hampton, who used the product on models in Vivienne Westwood’s show, described the hair perfume as “smelling different but having a feeling”. Illuminating Hair Perfume fragrances hair and finishes it with a “lustrous” shine.

Base notes blend British heliotrope, vanilla, musk and nutmeg.

The second product unveiled by Hampton was Toni & Guy’s Party Ready Volume Lotion. Claiming to deliver full-bodied, glossy hair looks that last all night, the product features a volume boosting formula and conditioning ingredients to smooth the hair’s surface. Toni & Guy recommends applying two to three pumps of Party Ready Volume Lotion to the lengths of wet or damp hair, before blow-drying it with a round brush for ‘high-impact’ volume. Party Ready Volume Lotion will be available from August 2016.

Waving the flag for individuality: Ashley Williams’ AW16 hair and fashion invites consumers to embrace their distinctive personalityHampton also revealed that Toni & Guy will be launching a new gifting collaboration in September 2016 with designer Ashley Williams. Two gift bags will be available.

The inspiration for Ashley Williams’ AW16 collection is ‘geek chic’. “Hair has a 70s geek-ish bookworm girl feel to it, a bit off-beat,” said Hampton. “The Ashely Williams girl is naughty on the inside but prim and proper on the outside.” Models in the designer’s show wore clips, braids, jewels and slides to express their style and individuality. Hampton used Prep Volume Plumping Mousse, Fluid Metal Straightener, Casual Rough Texturiser and Casual Flexible Hold Hairspray to create the look.

For Vivienne Westwood Red Label, the AW16 collection is inspired by the renaissance and 1400s. Hair styles in the designer’s show were based around a curly look.

New partner Sibling London channelled the “cool, bad girl vibe” for its hair inspiration. Volume Pumping Mousse, Style Fix Curler, Creative Style Spray Wax and Creative Extreme Hold hairspray were used to produce a twisted spiral cone and ringlets style.
