wtcf-logoCHINA/INTERNATIONAL. Tokyo and Paris were the most preferred tourist destinations for Chinese short-haul and long-distance outbound travel in 2015, according to a report issued by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) at last week’s WTCF Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2017 in Chongqing.

Chinese tourists spent US$215 billion abroad in 2015, accounting for 17% of all consumption by international travellers, the report said.

More than 120 million Chinese tourists made overseas trips in 2015, up +10.09% year-on-year. America, Japan, South Korea and the UK saw the biggest increases in Chinese visitors.

According to the report, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Osaka, Jeju Island, Nagoya, Pattaya, Singapore, Incheon and Busan were the top ten cities for Chinese tourists’ short-distance outbound travel.

Paris, Rome, Los Angeles, Sydney, London, Venice, Washington, New York, Florence and Frankfurt were the ten most-favoured long-distance destinations.

WTCF is a non-governmental organisation established in 2012. It has a membership of 172 cities.
