Tallink Group posts healthy first-half growth in retail and F&B sales

ESTONIA. Leading Baltic ferry company Tallink Group, which operates the Tallink and Silja Line brands, has reported shop and restaurant sales of €247 million in the first six months of 2016, a rise of just over +5% year-on-year. The company is the second largest maritime travel retailer in the world after Starboard Cruise Services, according to The Moodie Davitt Report’s latest annual rankings.

Total revenue in the half dipped to €438 million from €444 million in the same period last year.

In the second quarter, sales from shops and restaurants hit €137.7 million, a climb of +2.7% year-on-year. The segment accounted for 56% of turnover in the period.

In Q2, the company handled 2.4 million passengers, a rise of +2.8% year-on-year. In the half, passenger traffic grew by +5.5% to 4.3 million.
