Riyada and Muscat Duty Free sign key MOU to support Omani businesses

OMAN. The Omani Public Authority for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Riyada, and Muscat Duty Free have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support SME development initiatives.

Riyada CEO Khalifa Said Al Abri and Muscat Duty Free Chairman Abdulaziz Suad Al Raisi signed the MOU in the presence of Oman Airport Management Company CEO Sheikh Aiman at Riyada’s head office in Gala, Muscat.

Khalifa Said Al Abri commented, “Riyada are pleased to have signed the MOU with Muscat Duty Free as it is a very important step to promote and support our SMEs.

“We believe that our SMEs are the drivers of the national economy and for that we try to use all possible opportunities to support them in promoting their products and services.”

Abdulaziz Al Raisi commented, “We are extremely pleased to have an agreement with Riyada as it will help us develop local small companies to showcase their authentic handmade Omani products in our shops.”

Muscat Duty Free General Manager Martin Mullen said that the main aim of the MOU is to “develop, promote and support local SMEs by introducing traditional products made by Omani artisans into our range assortment”.

Mullen said that Muscat Duty Free will allocate areas within its souvenir zone for these genuine handmade local gifts, fashion and jewellery.

The retailer also confirmed that it has set up a team to be a focal point between Muscat Duty Free and local entrepreneurs registered by Riyada in order to select these high-quality locally made products.
