Rawbite sails into travel retail with Viking Line

Organic fruit and nut bar specialist Rawbite has secured its first listing in travel retail onboard four Viking Line cruise ships. The energy bars are offered on spa bar menus.

Rawbite was founded in Denmark in 2009 by three friends who wanted to create a simple fruit and nut bar using organic ingredients. Its bars are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and contain no artificial flavourings, colourings or added sugar. Flavours include: cashew, coconut, cacao, apple cinnamon, vanilla berries, peanuts, spicy lime and protein.

Rawbite energy bars are now listed on spar bar menus on four Viking Line cruise ships.

Rawbite has its own production facility on the Danish island of Fyn. Its products are available in 30 countries and it is an official supplier to the Danish Army.

Rawbite Co-Founder and CSO Rolf Nolsøe Bau said: “We are super-excited about our cooperation with Viking Line.

“We see Viking Line as top of their class and being part of their assortment in the spas resonates with Rawbite’s great quality and taste. Cooperating with Viking Line is our official first step into travel retail and we are very enthusiastic about this.”

Enjoy every bite: Rawbite aims to offer healthy on-the-go snacks.

Viking Line described the new collaboration with Rawbite as a “natural move that is aligned with the company’s current offerings, values and business strategy”.

Viking Line Purchasing and Sales Manager Eva Rehnström commented: “We were looking for a trendy, but healthy snack to offer our spa guests. The range of flavours, the pure ingredients, the texture and the cool packaging design made it easy for us to decide to include Rawbite in our spa bar menu.”

Rawbite said its travel retail debut was in line with the brand’s philosophy to provide customers with a healthy on-the-go snack option. The brand said it was “more than ready” to face challenges provided by travel retail.

“Travel retail and duty free is an interesting channel for Rawbite. It is obviously a huge market, but it is also a market that makes complete sense for us because we want to be the best fruit and nut bar in the grab-and-go category,” Bau concluded.
