Priority Pass surpasses milestone of 900 partner-operated lounges

Priority Pass reached the 900 milestone following record growth to mark the start of 2016

UK. Independent lounge membership programme Priority Pass’ network of partner-operated lounges has now surpassed 900.

The company said it had added 51 lounges so far in 2016, and more than 170 in the past 12 months.

Additions in Asia Pacific are largely driving this growth, with 24 lounges in the region becoming part of Priority Pass’ network since the start of 2016, and more than 80 since the previous January. This includes 60 in China, as well as other additions in the “growing economic hubs” of Cambodia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand.

In Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), 22 lounges have been added to the company’s network this year. Since April 2015, there have been more than 30 additions in Russia and seven in the Middle East. In the USA, Priority Pass has added a further 10 lounges to the programme, including at New York JFK, San Francisco and Orlando airports.

Priority Pass Global Marketing Director Stephen Simpson said: “Over the past year we have witnessed faster expansion in the number of lounges available to members than ever before. Today’s major milestone, reaching 900+ lounges, is testament to the hard work of the team.

“In addition to expanding the size and quality of the network, we remain dedicated to aligning the Priority Pass brand to reflect the changing needs and expectations of the frequent flyer. Our conversations with customers have taught us that today’s frequent travellers want a more holistic travel experience – that’s why we developed a range of offers which extend beyond the lounge, including the addition of new golf, travel and car rental offers.

“Since our brand refresh in October 2015 we have made our broadest product improvements to date, including the launch of a new website, smartphone app and the unveiling of digital membership cards, offering simple and speedy access to most lounges in the programme.”
