Philippine Airlines duty free contract decision due in early October

PHilippines airlines tailTHE PHILIPPINES. Philippine Airlines expects to award its new inflight duty free contract in the first week of October.

The five-year concession runs from 2017 through 2021. It is being contested by incumbent Inflight Sales Group, DFASS and Jose Maria ‘Chim’ N. Esteban III’s Regent Asia Group.

Inflight Duty Free Director Resty Tizon told The Moodie Davitt Report that the sales mix for the first half of 2016 was as follows:

  • Gifts 21%
  • Fragrances 20%
  • Watches 19%
  • Cosmetics 14%
  • Jewellery 9%
  • Liquor 6%
  • Confectionery 3%
  • Philippines Airlines exclusives 3%
  • Others 5%
