Pernod Ricard completes acquisition of majority share in Smooth Ambler

Pernod Ricard has completed the acquisition of a majority share in Smooth Ambler.

West Virginia, USA-based Smooth Ambler is the distiller and producer of Old Scout Single Barrel Bourbon, Smooth Ambler Contradiction Bourbon, and other high-end spirits.

The investment, for an undisclosed sum, was made by Pernod Ricard’s North America subsidiary NBV Investments.

When the agreement was first announced in December, Pernod Ricard Chairman and CEO Alexandre Ricard commented: “This investment illustrates perfectly our strategy of partnering with rising entrepreneurs sharing the same passion for authentic, high-quality brands.

“It represents a strong opportunity to enter the fast-growing, high-end bourbon market extending even more our fantastic portfolio of genuine brands in our number one market.”

Smooth Ambler Spirits Co. was founded in 2009 and is located in the Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia. It uses regional natural resources and ingredients to produce gins, vodkas, rums and whiskeys.
