PVM GTR’s 2009 sales climbed almost +20%
NETHERLANDS. Perfetti van Melle Global Travel Retail, whose brands include Chupa Chups and Mentos, is celebrating stellar sales results for 2009 with its sugar confectionery range.
The travel retail division’s 2009 growth of almost +20% has made it a top 10 confectionery supplier in most regions, according to Generation’s research for the first three quarters of 2009.
In addition, Perfetti van Melle has become the fastest-growing confectionery supplier in global travel retail, the analyst’s data shows.
“PVM GTR has always firmly believed that a more equal representation of worldwide consumption of chocolate and sugar confectionery (50/50) would help boost sales in travel retail. Now our approach seems to be true,” said the company.
Despite the global crisis, which has resulted in lower confectionery sales, sales of the Mentos and Chupa Chups brands increased significantly at almost all PVM GTR customers, the firm noted.
“PVM GTR’s outlook for 2010 is extremely positive. The order outlook in place shows a double-digit growth year-to-date P02-2010 versus year-to-date P02-2009.”
Charity donation to The Smile Train
In other news, Perfetti’s travel retail team has made a Christmas donation of US$1,000 to The Smile Train.
