Swiss house Maestrani has upgraded the packaging of Munz chocolate bars, and extended its novelty tin line.
Maestrani Sales Director Thomas Leitner underlined the importance of quality packaging in the chocolate and confectionery category, especially in Asian markets.
“For us, as a smaller company, first impressions are very important,” he said. The company has upgraded the packaging of its 300gr Munz Premium chocolate bars from paper to cardboard to emphasise product quality.
The new-look bars are due to launch with Heinemann Duty Free later this month, in selected European airports, including Frankfurt Airport, Leitner added.
Maestrani has also extended its Munz Kids range of novelty tins, adding a Nemo character to the line-up which includes panda, penguin, camel, bee and ladybird. It has also introduced a thinner and lighter (90gr) version of the tins.
“The novelty tins are exclusive to travel retail and we want to optimise this and reach as many customers as possible, targeting, of course, younger travellers.
“Whilst visually the Munz Animals tin boxes remain the same, the thinner version does allow the different operators to offer these gift products for kids at more affordable price-points whilst still offering quality Swiss chocolate.
“This is, in our view, important as people around the world are becoming more and more cost-conscious. We already see very positive results of this consumer-oriented improvement and expect that those lower price-points will lead to increased sales,” Leitner concluded.
