Moving on up: Lauder’s has climbed from 11th to ninth place in the blended Scotch category

Macduff International has announced a +36% increase in travel retail sales by value for Lauder’s Scotch whisky, citing Generation Research figures.

Growth was strongest in Europe where Lauder’s rooted its position as the sixth top-selling blended scotch in travel retail. The addition of Oloroso Cask and Ruby Cask editions also boosted sales.

Additional growth from Islay Mist and Grand Macnish helped brand owner MacDuff International move up from seventh to sixth place worldwide in the list of suppliers in travel retail’s Scotch blended category.

Macduff International Export Sales Director John Scott commented: “We are absolutely delighted with the phenomenal growth in Lauder’s sales, especially considering the fact the category shrank in 2015. Our aim is to continue to offer consumers unbeatable value for money and to add yet more innovative line extensions.”

Macduff will launch a limited-edition super-premium 25yo version of Lauder’s at the upcoming TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.

In other news, MacDuff’s Islay Mist Deluxe was recently awarded a gold medal at the International Spirits Competition 2016 Awards. Following the release of Islay Mist 8 Year Old Manzanilla La Gitana Cask Finish in 2015, a second cask finish will be unveiled at Cannes.

MacDuff Managing Director David Sloan commented: “It has already been a very exciting year for MacDuff with the recent announcement of our strategic partnership with Inchdairnie, Scotland’s most modern new single malt distillery. As well as giving us a unique single malt for the future, it also allows us to sustain the growth in our sales of Lauder’s, Islay Mist and Grand Macnish.”
