The Origin – 1974 is the classic Louis XIII blend of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie drawn exclusively from Grande Champagne Cognacs. Its name is a tribute to the original decanter created in 1874.

The spirit is presented in a Saint-Louis crystal decanter similar to the brand’s first, which was inspired by an ancient royal flask from 1569. The decanter features 13 ‘dentelle’ (lacy) spikes and a stopper in the form of an upturned decanter.

New but very old:  Louis XIII The Origin – 1874 celebrates a landmark in the ultra-premium Cognac’s development

The decanter is housed in a metal case which features a woven texture, a modern reinterpretation of the wicker baskets in which the original bottles of Louis XIII were delivered. The case is sealed with a slender metal rod.

Louis XIII Global Executive Director Ludovic du Plessis commented: “The greatest stories often have humble beginnings and ours is no exception. It was 1874 and a new, yet very old Cognac was born.

“The Origin – 1874 marks one of the landmark moments in Louis XIII’s fascinating story, which will become part of your own personal legacy and tale. Travel retail continues to be a critical channel helping us to build that lasting story.”
