Ireland’s daa seeks interested parties for major Dublin Airport Terminal 2 retail construction works

IRELAND. Aer Rianta International (ARI) is to carry out a significant redevelopment of its The Loop airside retail zone at Dublin Airport Terminal 2.

State-owned airport operator daa has issued Request for Information documents covering the “multi-phase redevelopment and refurbishment” of the retail space in the terminal, with the project also featuring the addition of new retail units. The documents can be accessed here.

daa said it is seeking bids for the construction management and delivery of two initial works packages. It will appoint a framework panel of high-end retail fit-out contractors with experience of managing and constructing similar projects.

A design team will also be appointed to manage the project through the design phases, provide detailed layouts and to lead, co-ordinate and complete the vision for the project.

Parties registering an interest at this stage must complete a questionnaire, and successful applicants will be issued with tender documents.

Construction work will be carried out in phases to keep the retail space functional. The first phase includes the fit-out of a new 410sq m ARI flagship liquor store plus the addition of five new retail units. These will be a 60sq m sunglasses store, a 60 sq m luggage shop, an 80sq m watches & jewellery boutique, a 60sq m fashion store, and an 80sq m fashion shop for ARI.

The second phase will see the fit out of a new 1,350sq m duty free store for ARI, featuring perfumery, cosmetics and confectionery areas. ARI will also add two new direct retail fashion units encompassing areas of 80sq m and 60sq m respectively.

The second phase will also include the fit out of a bypass corridor to the duty free store; the soft refurbishment of the existing 260sq m Irish Memories unit; and miscellaneous works to provide new passenger flight and wayfinding information.

The Request for Information stage will conclude in November. The tender for the first phase of works – Work Package 1 – will then be issued in January 2018, with the contract awarded in February. The tender for Work Package 2 will be issued in March, and the contract awarded in May.

Up to six main building contractors will be appointed on a non-exclusive, multi-party framework basis for up to three years with daa reserving the right to extend for a further two years, in order to facilitate further daa retail works in the terminal.
