Intra-Asian travel buoys Singapore Changi Airport passenger traffic

SINGAPORE. Singapore Changi Airport handled 4.78 million passengers in November 2016, a +3.2% increase compared to the same period a year earlier, Changi Airport Group has reported.

Passenger traffic for the month was supported by growth to and from Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and South Asia. Among Changi’s top ten country markets, China (+13.7%), Vietnam (+9.9%) and India (+9.8%) led the gains.

Among Changi’s top ten city connections, growth was led by Southeast Asian cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Denpasar and Ho Chi Minh City.

For the first 11 months of 2016, passenger traffic rose +5.7% to 53.0 million.

In other Changi news, Teahouse by Soup Restaurant has opened in Terminal 1. It serves a variety of Nanyang Dim Sum.

In Terminal 3 Basement 2, Etoz, a manufacturer and retailer of home and bedding products, has opened its first airport store.
