“Gute Reise!” Fraport challenges the public to improve the airport experience

GERMANY. Airport company Fraport has launched a public competition which seeks ideas on improving the passenger experience at Frankfurt Airport.

The ‘Frankfurt Airport Innovation Challenge’ is open to all, and ideas must be submitted in either German or English by 28 June. Entries can address either specific aspects of the airport experience in four categories (‘arrival’, ‘departure’, ‘transfers’, and ‘visits’) or the travel process as a whole.

Suggestions can encompass new services, facilities or proposals to boost the airport’s image. Environmental and sustainability issues can also play a role. Fraport said those submitting an idea could take inspiration from existing attractions at other airports around the world or develop an original suggestion.

“Innovation is key to our competitiveness and is therefore anchored in Fraport’s corporate principles. In keeping with our new slogan, ‘Gute Reise! We make it happen’, we are now actively looking for fresh ideas for Frankfurt Airport,” said Fraport Head of Corporate Development, Environment and Sustainability Claudia Uhe.

“We want to give passengers and visitors in particular the opportunity to actively co-create their airport as a place full of positive experiences.”

The best 25 concepts will be identified by Fraport in July. A five-member jury comprising industry and innovation experts, and chaired by Uhe, will then pick the winning six ideas by 31 August. The overall winner will receive €3,000.

Ideas can be submitted at www.fra-challenge.de until 28 June.
