German brand Fissler opens first pop-up store at Frankfurt Airport

Fissler: Well-known German brand makes an appearance at Frankfurt Airport through a new pop-up unit

GERMANY. Premium kitchenware manufacturer Fissler has opened its first pop-up store at Frankfurt Airport. The store, which opened on 4 September, offers a variety of Fissler’s high-end product portfolio with goods such as pressure cookers, frying pans, kitchen accessories and cooking knives. The brand hails from Idar-Oberstein in Germany.

Until the end of this month the mobile store concept will be located in Terminal 2 Non-Schengen, in the central marketplace just behind passport control. From there, it will move to several further locations in the two Frankfurt Airport terminals.

Fraport noted that the pop-up store is operated by Tripidi GmbH, an innovative retail specialist, which started its cooperation with the airport company in 2013. Tripidi is said “to focus on high-quality German brands targeting in particular customers from Asia, especially from China”. Tripidi accepts mobile payments using Alipay Wallet App, a leading online payment tool in China.

“Pop-up stores are part of our retail strategy to meet customer demands for special brands or products also in marketplaces, where spaces for permanent shops are not available at present,” said Fraport Senior Manager Retail Hans-Georg Muehlberg.

The Fissler unit is the third pop-up store concept that has opened at Frankfurt Airport within the last year. Other brands represented include fine food specialist Caviar House & Prunier and Moleskine from Italy.

Fraport told The Moodie Report that further pop-ups would be introduced in future to offer brands a showcase opportunity. Fissler, as a “typical German brand”, enhances the Sense of Place, said the company, and will have strong appeal among Chinese travellers.
