SOUTH KOREA. In the culmination to a highly innovative promotion, downtown travel retailer Galleria Duty Free 63 has chosen two Chinese and one Korean to work for the company for one week – and be paid US$20,000 each.
As reported, the campaign involved a competition in which entrants vied for the lucrative week’s work as tour guides to promote Galleria Duty Free 63, 63 Building (the famous Hanwha-owned, gold-clad building in which the new duty free store is housed), and other tourism attractions around Yeouido, Seoul
Galleria Duty Free 63 told The Moodie Davitt Report that winning candidates will now get to shop in Galleria Duty Free 63; report on weather conditions from 63 Art observatory and visit the building’s aquarium.
They will sample the best cuisine in restaurants within 63 Building; sail a yacht along the Han River; and experience some of Seoul’s hottest attractions, including the International Fireworks Festival. They will also enjoy complimentary accommodation at The Plaza hotel for their week’s ‘work’
The tour guides’ daily experiences will be broadcast live through their own social networking system with each receiving US$20,000 for working eight hours per day for one week from 1 October.
Korean actress and fashion model Eom Sae-ah; Chinese female power blogger Zhou Ruoxoe; and Chinese tour specialist Xiong Aobo won the coveted roles after an online vote of entries on the competition website.
