Jane Lauder and Peter Lichtenthal will each assume additional responsibilities as part of The Estée Lauder Companies’ strategic organisational redesign, announced last month. These appointments become effective 1 January 2013.

President and Chief Executive Officer Fabrizio Freda stated: “We are a dynamic organisation, evolving as the skills of our Company grow. Jane and Peter are exceptional global brand leaders who consistently maximise opportunities across regions and channels to deliver outstanding results. The additional responsibilities we are announcing for our leaders celebrate their strengths and, at the same time, provide them growth opportunities that make our business exciting.”

Jane Lauder, Global President and General Manager of the Origins and Ojon brands, will now add Darphin to her brand leadership responsibilities. This evolution recognises both her strategic and operational strengths, as well as her proven track record in developing certain of the Company’s turnaround brands. Lauder will continue to report to Lynne Greene, who takes on her new role as Group President of Clinique, Origins, Ojon, Aveda and Darphin on 1 January 2013. Greene will remain President of the Clinique brand.

“Jane is intelligent, focused, tenacious and determined to lead her teams to success,” said Greene. “She has done a brilliant job with her brands, especially with Origins around the world. We are proud she will take on this new responsibility.”

Recognising his achievements as President of trend-setting professional hair care brand Bumble and bumble, and his previous experience in senior marketing roles within the Estée Lauder brand and MAC Cosmetics, Peter Lichtenthal will now also oversee Smashbox. At Smashbox, Lichtenthal will drive integration, further linking the brand with the Company’s global marketing and commercial capabilities.

Lichtenthal will now report to John Demsey, Group President of Estée Lauder, MAC, Tom Ford Beauty, Prescriptives, Bobbi Brown, La Mer, Jo Malone and Smashbox. Demsey will add Bumble and bumble to his responsibilities on 1 January 2013.

“Peter Lichtenthal has over 20 years’ brand-building experience with The Estée Lauder Companies. His recent direction of Bumble and bumble has taken the brand to new horizons in fashion, innovation and specialty retailing,” noted Demsey. “Peter will be an excellent addition to the Smashbox leadership team, advancing the strategic development of this growing brand.”

Of the continued organisational evolution, Executive Chairman William P. Lauder stated: “We have always said that our greatest asset is our people. Both Jane and Peter possess the outstanding strengths and leadership skills that define us as a brand-led, strategic organisation that is creativity-driven and consumer-inspired.

“We benefit from the growth of our leaders as we grow our Company and our exceptional brands globally, leveraging the strengths and synergies that drive our success.”
