MALAYSIA. Elina Jamaluddin, long-time Head of Merchandising Division at Malaysian airport retailer Eraman, has been appointed Head of Buying, Group Duty Free & Merchandise at AirAsia. She assumed the role last month.
Ms Jamaluddin earned an excellent reputation during her 12 years with the Malaysia Airports retail subsidiary.
She told The Moodie Davitt Report: “Nothing can be more exciting than to be with AirAsia, the largest LCC and fourth-largest airline in Asia, surpassing some legacy carriers.
“With close to 60 million passengers carried by the Group last year, it’s really a critical mass that no brands should ignore.”
Air Asia Group Head of Duty Free Sumeet Dhingra described the appointment as an important boost to the company’s vision. “Elina’s deep knowledge of the duty free landscape will be a huge asset to our team,” he said. “She understands customers and brands and how to connect the two. Her ability to bring the best brands to the mix will help ensure we deliver a world-class inflight offer.”
