Elie Maalouf joins InterContinental Hotels Group as Americas CEO

Maalouf will move into the hotels sector early next year

USA. Former HMSHost President and CEO Elie Maalouf is to join InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) as Americas CEO and Executive Committee member, effective 13 February 2015. He will replace Kirk Kinsell, who is stepping down from the role after 19 years with the company.

Maalouf led HMSHost until August 2011, becoming one of the most respected executives in the industry. He has since served as a Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company.

IHG Chief Executive Richard Solomons said: “[Maalouf] has a successful track record of building and developing a global business, working in a franchised environment and of delivering strong financial performance. He will be an excellent addition to IHG’s Executive Committee and I look forward to working with him.”

Maalouf added: “I am excited to be joining IHG as Chief Executive Officer of its Americas region. I have enormous respect for IHG and its strong portfolio of brands and have always admired the business. I am passionate about the hospitality sector and I look forward to being able to shape the continued growth of IHG, building on Kirk’s legacy.”
