Popular Japanese brand Sekkisei is to make its US travel retail debut on 1 August at T Galleria by DFS, Hawaii.
Sekkisei said the launch was part of a strategic partnership with DFS Group to broaden the brand’s reach throughout Asia Pacific.
The launch will feature a “dramatic” ground floor installation dominated by a large Japanese Sakura blossom tree inside the retailer’s beauty hall.
The open-sell environment will offer the travelling consumer a choice of self-serve or personalised service, complemented by the Sekkisei ‘5-Minute Brightening Facial’ offered within a semi-private consultation area.
Exclusive travel retail value sets will be offered.
Sekkisei is implementing a strategic growth plan designed to make it the number one brightening brand worldwide. A newly revamped global campaign, ‘Where Brightening Begins’, will debut in the USA exclusively at T Galleria by DFS, Hawaii.
“We believe the time is now to capitalise on the tremendous growth of Sekkisei in Asia, and accelerate this momentum with expansion into travel retail and new markets”, said Kosé Corporation President & CEO Kazutoshi Kobayashi.
DFS Group Senior Vice President Beauty Ariel Gentzbourger said that the Sekkisei launch builds on the travel retailer’s strategy to provide customers with a curated assortment of in-demand brands. “Our customer is continuously looking to be surprised and delighted when they shop so we are thrilled to partner with Kosé to bring Sekkisei exclusively to travel retail in the United States for the first time at our T Galleria by DFS, Hawaii store,” she commented.
Describing the brand as already a well-known skincare leader in Asia, Gentzbourger said: “We’re confident our travellers in Hawaii will fall in love with all Sekkisei has to offer and we look forward to bringing this brand to life at DFS.”
Over its 30-year history, Sekkisei has become known as an original leader in the use of oriental herbal ingredients for cosmetics. Its top-selling Sekkisei Lotion, widely recognised for its lazuline packaging that evokes the image of a medicine bottle, sells an average 5,000 bottles per day.
Kosé Corporation was founded in 1946 by Kozaburo Kobayashi with a vision and passion to provide people with dreams and hope during the post-war period. The group, which has research and innovation at its core, has over 800 registered patents and a portfolio of 32 brands that sell to multiple channels across Asia, including department stores, travel retail shops, specialty stores, drug stores and direct.
