DFS Changi hosts exclusive launch of John Walker & Sons Private Collection

SINGAPORE. Diageo Global Travel & Middle East (GTME) has launched the John Walker & Sons Private Collection, a new ultra-deluxe blended Scotch whisky that will be released in a limited run every year.

The 2014 edition will be available exclusively at Singapore Changi Airport through DFS in May, before being rolled out to Asia Pacific travel retail outlets from June.

Master Blender Jim Beveridge has selected 29 private reserve casks for the 2014 edition, which is bottled at 46.8% abv and presented in a dark blue glass decanter. Each of the 8,888 bottles released is individually numbered, and Beveridge has signed ten “˜lucky number’ bottles to celebrate the launch with DFS.

The John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2014 edition, said to represent the “height of craftsmanship and innovative spirit” of Johnnie Walker

Diageo GTME Global Marketing Director Steve White said: “We recognise the high level of appreciation for ultra-deluxe blended Scotch whisky in Asia travel retail and this launch underlines our ongoing commitment to innovation and premiumisation.

“The 2014 edition, a unique smoky blend, is a wonderful chance for travelling whisky connoisseurs and collectors to buy a scarce first decanter to begin their own John Walker & Sons Private Collection.”

DFS Group Senior Vice President, Global Merchandising – Spirits, Wine & Tobacco Brooke Supernaw said: “Today’s whisky connoisseurs are increasingly sophisticated, desiring collectibles of exceptional quality. We are excited and honoured to partner with both Diageo and Changi Airport to offer this limited edition from Johnnie Walker as an Asia-first launch.”

The collection will build year-on-year with series of small-batch, one-off expressions said to highlight the craftsmanship and innovative spirit of Johnnie Walker. The 2014 edition carries a recommended retail price of S$925 (US$740.80).
